"It's so easy to take advantage of the conveniences that we have today when it comes to recognizing moments for not only what they appear to be but for the opportunities that those moments achieve. Being in this environment that is calm and immersive and being able to appreciate the people and things around you is something that I felt while photographing. I think that it is important to look at the world from a different lens and learn to appreciate the candid moments that life gives us. Something that I have noticed through this process is learning how to connect with people. The picture of Izzy and Charlie connects with me because it's reflecting on a real moment, a real interaction."
-Edie O'Byrne (Teen Artist and Photographer) "I felt pretty creative when I photographed my brother. The concept of what Samy liked was a bit simpler, so it wasn't hard to capture his feelings."
Images and words by: Sidney age 14 Captured with the Paper Camera "The emotions it made me feel was like I could express my emotions in a way, that it felt like I saw myself in those pictures. I felt like I was a part of those pictures. I feel like I'm free when I'm taking pictures, like I'm not being watched over or judged. There's no pressure when taking pictures because you mess up and you try again. I think when you are taking pictures or anything that you can just put your emotions into doing something you like and when you are doing it nobody is there. Just you and the thing you love most. When I play piano, I play piano for a stress reliever or hobby. The music helps my mind focus. Makes me feel like I'm home without my family or friends. Not in a bad way, a good way. Having friends and family always there in your space, not respecting your boundaries is very stressful and where there are stressful things in your way you can't express your emotions as good as you could. Sometimes it's good to get away and have some alone time with your passion."
- Photography and beautiful words by "E" age 10 Captured with the Digital Camera "I think photographing nature is really cool because you see al the animals and bugs in action. It is also relaxing because you can hear all the nature sounds and see different plants"
Photography and words: Samy age 12 Captured with the Paper Camera Words of wisdom, images with purpose from the amazing inspiring young photographer "E" age 10
Images were captured with a paper camera in Glenwood Springs, CO. Much love, gratitude and honor to Pathfinders for offering our community HOPE through awareness photography and storytelling. I enjoyed capturing imagery with "E"...more to come so stay tuned! "I think this photography lesson has showed me that you should look at things closely because you can't look at things and say "pretty pot" or "the colors on that tree are beautiful". The more deeply you look at something, the more detail you'll take in, the more characteristic you will realize that something has. I started looking at things I usually wouldn't look at, or take the time to look at the detail. If you start to look at things differently, you will see everything has meaning." - "E" 10 yo Captured with the Paper Camera Curiosity, perspective, appreciation, details, open minded, character...live lessons through Awareness Photography and Storytelling
